Guideline For Diagnostics

You have to make decision whether your hard disk is damaged physically or it needs software recovery by technicians. You can recovery data by using so many commercial utilities from hard drive which is otherwise inaccessible. These utilities work with different degrees for success. You just need to make a decision about the right time of using these utilities or which is the right time to send hard drive to the Data recovery group.

You need to make sure about the functioning of the hard drive. You should recognize CMOS if it is functioning properly. You should also be able boot the system from floppy, CD ROM or another hard drive. The hard drive might have malfunctions in case of BIOS errors and it need to be sent to the data recovery group. The malfunction can also be identified if it is unable to boot from other media source. There might be some serious problems if you attempt to boot the system again and again.

Data recovery utility is the next step after the successful booting of the computer. The working of most of the utilities is same. You have to scan the drive in order to locate the file system components and it is the first step of the data recovery utility. The scan will be displayed by the progress meter. It is important for you to monitor the progress and stay with the hard drive during the utility operation. Stop the scanning and power don computer if there is some unusual noise in the hard disk. You also needed to watch the progress for the utility. There should be steady count of sectors and it should not stop. The scan should be terminated in case count stops the scan and computer should be powered down. The data recovery will be successful with failure to stop.

There should not be use of the software data recovery if there is physical failure of hard drive. The failure of the hard drive continues slowly and then it accelerates during full scan of the hard drive which is necessary for most of the data recovery utilities to recover the data.

You should read the instructions before the use of any data recovery utility for hard drive. There should be complete scan of the hard drive to recover the files that are not saved back. You can save recovered files on the source drive and in this case files will be overwritten.

It is very important for you to determine whether your hard drive is having physical failure before attempting any data recovery utility. The data can be recovered easily if it is sent to the data recovery group right after the original failure. The hard drive might become useless with the repeated attempts of data recovery with the software.
